Privacy Policy
EastStar is provided by Constellation Systems LLC. This policy explains how EastStar handles information in the app, on this website, and when delivering EastStar educational content.
Information in the EastStar App
EastStar lets you enter financial planning information such as income, savings, debts, recurring expenses, and hypothetical scenarios. This information is stored locally on your device. EastStar does not require an account, bank connection, or cloud sync.
Information We Collect
We do not intentionally collect app-entered financial information through the EastStar app or website. We do not sell personal information or use advertising trackers.
App Analytics
EastStar uses PostHog for optional app analytics to understand feature usage, reliability, and release quality. App analytics are disabled unless enabled in the app. If enabled, EastStar may send limited event information such as app opened, tab selected, screen viewed, article opened, feature action, consent change, review or share action, reminder-permission flow, and car affordability module usage. Event properties are limited to coarse labels such as screen name, tab name, article ID, category, item type, scenario type, permission status, or count values.
EastStar does not intentionally send income amounts, savings balances, debt balances, APR values, payment amounts, expense names, debt names, free-form notes, search text, car prices, estimates, or other app-entered financial values to PostHog. The app disables PostHog automatic screen capture, automatic element interaction capture, session replay, surveys, feature flags, push-notification capture, default person properties, and SDK swizzling. We do not identify users by name, email address, account ID, or financial profile because EastStar does not require an account.
PostHog may process technical information needed to receive analytics events, such as timestamps, app or device environment information, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, and a pseudonymous analytics identifier. We use this information for analytics and app functionality purposes, not for third-party advertising, advertising retargeting, or tracking users across other companies' apps or websites.
You can turn app analytics off in EastStar. Turning analytics off stops future analytics events from being sent from that device. To request deletion of analytics data associated with your device's pseudonymous analytics identifier, contact us at the email address below and we will provide reasonable assistance based on the information available to us and our analytics provider's tools.
Website Analytics
EastStar uses PostHog to understand website usage, content effectiveness, calculator activity, and App Store link activity. Website analytics may process page paths, event names, coarse browser or device information, timestamps, and pseudonymous analytics identifiers. PostHog may group these events into pseudonymous visitor profiles so that we can understand related activity on our website. We do not identify website visitors by name, email address, or account, and these analytics profiles are not financial profiles.
We use PostHog's cookieless mode. PostHog processes technical request information, including IP address and browser information, to generate a pseudonymous identifier on its servers. Our website analytics does not store cookies or analytics identifiers in your browser's local or session storage. Cookieless analytics is not the same as collecting no information. We do not use website analytics for advertising retargeting or tracking visitors across other companies' apps or websites. Session recording, surveys, heatmaps, and broad interaction autocapture are disabled.
When your browser sends a Do Not Track signal that our website supports, we do not load website analytics. This setting stops future website analytics collection in that browser; it does not delete previously collected information. Website analytics is separate from the optional analytics setting inside the EastStar app.
Calculator financial inputs and outputs, including balances, rates, payments, debt labels, target dates, and scenario details, are not intentionally sent to PostHog. We remove URL query strings, fragments, page titles, and automatic profile-property updates from website analytics events. EastStar app financial data remains stored locally on your device and is not linked to website analytics.
Website and Content Delivery Logs
EastStar uses Cloudflare Pages to host this website and deliver knowledge-base articles and related content files. Cloudflare may process basic technical information such as an IP address, browser or app user-agent, requested URL, request time, and network or security information to deliver content, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot service problems. Constellation Systems may access limited operational logs for those purposes.
Data Sharing
We do not share app-entered financial profile information with third parties. Requests for public educational content do not include the income, savings, debt, expense, car estimate, lease estimate, or scenario values you enter in EastStar. PostHog processes analytics information as our analytics provider when analytics are enabled. Hosting providers process request information only as needed to deliver and protect the service.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can remove EastStar app data by deleting the app from your device or using device-level storage controls. You can turn app analytics off in EastStar to stop future analytics collection. We retain analytics events and pseudonymous visitor profiles for evaluating usage trends, comparing website or app changes, and investigating reliability issues. We do not currently enforce a fixed automatic deletion period for analytics events or profiles. Retention is determined by the continuing need for those purposes, deletion requests, and applicable legal obligations. Hosting and security logs are retained according to operational needs and provider settings.
You may contact contact@eaststar.app to request deletion of analytics data or assistance with privacy questions. Because website analytics uses pseudonymous identifiers rather than names or accounts, we may be unable to locate particular website events from your email address alone. We will provide reasonable assistance using the information available to us and our provider's tools. You do not need to send financial information with a privacy request. If future versions add accounts, sync, or export features, this policy will be updated before those features are used.
Children's Privacy
EastStar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
